USB Scanner Programming Cable

Radio Shack: Can you place, clear, "How to" information for those of us who are interested in the USB cable and use it with windows 7 _ to include where to get the drivers? I purchased the USB cable and returned it because it didn't work with windows 7...

Forget the supplied DVD if you are running Windows 7 - it will find the correct driver for you. I used the long cable only and was up and running with ARC500 in minutes. Scanner is a PRO-197 from RadioShack.

Why does everyone think jou can not program the 106 without a computer? I do it every day,manually no usb and no computer needed. All you need is a frequency list! very easy to do.

Study up on your scanner, how it works and what it can do. RadioReference has alot of good info. You need this cable if you have a Pro 106 and want to do digital scanning.

Cable comes with CD which does NOT have any documentation. (1-page flier says it does & also wrong about how to load drivers. Very, very poor, but about what we have come to expect from the Chinese.) Took a week of experimenting and help from the RS...

The accompanying CD did not contain a DRIVERS folder, did NOT contain a USERS GUIDE and I had to do a manual installation. The RS website does contain the correct instructions and Users Guide and should be consulted prior to attempting installation....
