T-Mobile Comet review: T-Mobile Comet

Editors' note: This review has been updated with in-store pricing.

The T-Mobile Comet offers a compact and lightweight design. The smartphone features Android 2.2 and the full range of wireless options. Call quality is excellent.

The Comet has a small display and no multitouch support. The plastic piece covering the navigation array started to peel off. The smartphone can be sluggish.

The T-Mobile Comet is an affordable Android phone with a compact design and good call quality, but there are better options out there.

T-Mobile Comet

The T-Mobile Comet makes a decent case for Android's most appealing possible price point: free.

Low price. Cute and compact. Great voice quality.

Low screen resolution. Poor camera. Must pull the battery to swap memory cards.

Camera and Conclusions The 3.2-megapixel camera has no flash or auto-focus. Test photos were poor across the board, with a soft focus, pale pinkish tint, and poor detail. Indoor rooms weren't too dark, but they looked faded and indistinct. Shutter...

T-Mobile Comet Review

Although it was hardly the thought amongst people when Android first arrived on the scene, we've gone through its initial adoption period to the inevitable reality of seeing Android smartphones selling for free. In recent memory, we've seen the...

T-Mobile Comet

The T-Mobile Comet (AKA Huawei Ideos) is the first low end Android device for the company. It has a 2.8 inch touchscreen, 3 MP camera, and is rockin' Android 2.2.

This is the first Android device that will be available for T-Mobile's restructured prepaid plans. It's available now for free on a 2 year contract or 199.99 off contract.

T-Mobile Comet Review by Sydney | PhoneDog

T-Mobile Comet Review: In an attempt to snag first-time smartphone buyers, carriers are increasingly focusing their attention, not on beast smartphones with through-the-roof specs, but on low-end and mid-range smartphones that are a little less...

Inexpensive (free, to be exact); Swype pre-installed; Good battery life

Slow processor can't handle multiple apps running at once; Poor screen resolution; Tiny screen and tiny keyboard; Unimpressive 3.2 megapixel camera

The Comet is a decent low-end smartphone and performance isn't as bad as you would expect, but there are better low-end options on T-Mobile in the same price-range.

"Great little phone!"

I got this phone in June of '11 and haven't had a single problem with it. I make calls, email, text, take pictures, and listen to a ton of Pandora Radio on the thing. My only huge complaint is that sometimes I have to charge it every night and...

"I wouldn't pay $200 for this...In fact not even $2.00"

I've now had four of these little mysteries. The first one lasted almost three months, the second only 3 weeks, and the last two were problems right out of the box. T-Mobile's solution? "We can exchange it for another one." All for had one problem in...

Good call clarity...when it doesn't say "Emergency Calls Only." Responsive screen (for the first couple of weeks)

I'm on my 4th Comet in 6 months...2 were failures right out of the box. "Emergency Calls Only" is a common issue (SIM works fine in other phones). Charging issues and software issues within days make this phone a poor value, even when free.
