Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) Review: In Depth

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) Review: We test out Samsung's mighty 5.5-inch Galaxy A7 2016, which packs loads loads of great features for just £350.

Great battery life ; Gorgeous screen ; Slick design ; Smart cameras

Rather big ; Performance lags behind rivals ; Old Android

Yet another excellent mid-range Samsung handset, the Galaxy A7 2016 is rather big but has definite appeal to media fans who demand a gorgeous screen for enjoying their movies and shows. The camera tech is dependable and solid for the price, although...

Samsung's new Galaxy A7 for 2016: Big phone, middling price (hands-on)

Samsung's Galaxy A range of smartphones is designed for a younger, trendier crowd who can't afford its higher end flagships, such as the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Announced late last year, the updated 2016 versions of these phones sport metal bodies...

The phone feels premium and luxurious, easily comparable to the company's higher-end phones. The specs of the A7 are certainly respectable, though I daresay phones from China will be the A7's main competitor, given their overall cheaper pricing. Check...

Samsung Galaxy Light, a good option for budget-seekers

The Samsung Galaxy Light won't wow you, but it's an affordable, steady performer that will actually fit in your pocket.

The ; gives you 4G LTE, a decent processor, and a pocket-friendly form for under $250. Call quality is strong, too.

Camera images seemed dull and soft on the Light's 5-megapixel shooter, and the 4-inch screen makes the virtual keyboard feel cramped.

Buy the Samsung Galaxy Light if you're looking for Android on a budget -- just be aware that you're trading price for performance.

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) review

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016 edition, aka A7 6) launches early in 2016 to set the tone for mid-range phones: those that are not as expensive as the finest Galaxy S series and iPhones, but also a level above the Moto Gs of this world.

Very stylish, eye-catching design, solid build quality ; Very solid battery life ; Super AMOLED display has pleasing colors ; Supports expandable storage via microSD cards

Performance is disappointing: inconsistent, phone often stutters and lags ; A bit too pricey for what it offers ; Poor for gaming, GPU performance is terrible ; Ships with Android 5.1, unclear when and whether it’d get updated

There are two ways to look at the Galaxy A7 (2016). A subjective and irrational one that completely disregards its slightly exaggerated price, and a more objective one that considers all the facts.
