LG Optimus T and Optimus S review

It wasn't long ago that buying a smartphone meant spending at least a Benjamin and committing to an expensive 2-year contract. But things are changing,

Solid build and performance ; Excellent value ; Funky color option

Average battery life ; Video recording could be better ; Stock Android camera app

LG Optimus S (Republic Wireless)

Republic Wireless gives you an LG Optimus S Android phone for under $20 per month, but the Wi-Fi portion isn't reliable enough to use as a main phone.

Very inexpensive monthly plans. Good call quality over Sprint's cellular network. Republic Wireless software doesn't degrade OS performance.

Inconsistent call quality over Wi-Fi. Can't automatically hand-off between cellular and Wi-Fi connections. Your caller ID only shows via cellular, not Wi-Fi.

So the phone costs $199 up front, and the plan is $19 per month for unlimited voice, data, and texting. But those prices, as you may have guessed, have a catch: It's "unlimited" assuming you spend most of your time on Wi-Fi. Republic Wireless assigns...

LG Optimus U (U.S. Cellular)

The budget-priced LG Optimus U soars on U.S. Cellular with its excellent mix of speed, features, and good design decisions.

Exceptional battery life. Good mix of size, speed, and screen for the price. Runs Android 2.2.

A bit heavy. Cramped on-screen keyboard.

Multimedia, Camera, and Conclusions There's 172MB of free internal memory. The side-mounted microSD slot worked fine with my 32GB SanDisk card, and LG throws in a 2GB card to get you started. There's also a standard-size 3.5mm headphone jack. Music...

LG Optimus S (Sprint) review

Budget Android smartphones are on the rise, and you need look no further than the LG Optimus line of handsets to see that. We first saw the LG Optimus T , which was priced at $29.99 with a T-Mobile agreement, and then we found out you can get the black...

The LG Optimus S has an attractive, slim profile with features that include GPS, EV-DO Rev. A, and Wi-Fi with tethering capabilities. It also has a 3.2-megapixel camera and it ships with Android 2.2.

The LG Optimus S' slower processor means it doesn't have Flash video in the browser. The camera doesn't have HD video capture or an LED flash. Call quality was mixed.

The LG Optimus S is an affordable yet full-featured Android smartphone for Sprint, but we did wish the call quality were better.

LG Optimus S (Sprint)

The LG Optimus S is a budget-priced Android smartphone for Sprint that can run with the big dogs.

Pleasant form factor. Runs Android 2.2. Useful Sprint ID interface enhancements. Mobile hotspot capability. Good battery life.

Screen resolution, CPU, and camera are a step behind the class leaders. Screen is a little small.

Multimedia, Camera, and Conclusions The side-mounted microSD card slot works with 32GB cards; my 16GB SanDisk card worked fine, and there's also 127MB of free internal memory. MP3 and AAC music tracks sounded clear and punchy through Motorola S9-HD...

LG Optimus S Review

LG is serious about their Android push, and the Optimus S is a very nice device. Like the Mazda RX-8's tiny 1.3L engine, the Optimus S does a lot with a little and delivers smooth, quick performance. At $50 it is ...

LG Optimus U Reviewed

The LG Optimus series of entry level Android powered smartphones has been a wise move by LG. LG has now targeted U.S. Cellular with the LG Optimus U. This release, like its brethren - the Optimus T Optimus S, Optimus M and LG Vortex, is a solid phone...

Overall, the LG Optimus U is a great addition to their already strong entry level marketed Optimus line up. With a two year contract and mail in rebate, the LG Optimus U is free on U.S. Cellular. Without the mail in rebate the LG Optimus U comes in at...

LG Optimus S Review

The LG Optimus S is an entry level Android powered smartphone exclusively available from Sprint. Similar to how Samsung has released the Galaxy S series of phones, LG has also followed suit with the Optimus series. The LG Optimus S is the Sprint...

Overall the LG Optimus S is a definite 'Average' phone in the market. Coming in with a $50 price tag with a two year contract, Sprint is slowly beginning to put the line between the words 'affordable' and 'cheap' in the smartphone line up. The $50...

LG Optimus Black review: Super-thin phone proves hard to love

It's easy to see the LG Optimus Black as something of an anti-climax after the South Korean phone peddler snatched the world record for the first dual-core phone with the LG Optimus 2X. After all, it's powered by a single core, can't shoot in full HD,...
