Sanyo Zio M6000 (Cricket Wireless) review

Now that Android has made it to all "big four" national carriers, it was only a matter of time before it visited some of the smaller wireless operators in the United States. U.S. Cellular got its turn earlier this year with the Samsung Acclaim and HTC...

The Sanyo Zio has a user-friendly design and agreeable call quality. Its functional feature set includes a File Browser app.

The Sanyo Zio runs Android OS 1.6. Speakerphone calls and music quality over the external speakers was shrill.

The Sanyo Zio isn't the fanciest Android phone, but it's an ideal beginner smartphone for Cricket customers. It's easy to use and its feature set offers the essentials, though we don't like that it runs Android OS 1.6.

Sanyo Zio M6000 (Cricket Wireless)

The first Android phone available on a low-cost carrier just doesn't work well enough to recommend.

Very affordable. High-res screen for a budget phone. Sharp still camera.

Slow. Buggy. Ancient OS version lacks features.

Conclusions The Sanyo Zio just isn't a very good Android phone. But it does many things that no other phone in Cricket's lineup can do. No other phone from the carrier has a browser this good, runs anywhere near this number of apps, or plugs so easily...

I hate it.

Don't buy unless you have an excellent memory and can remember to check the second page to see if you have missed calls or texts.

Sorry, right now I can't think of anything as I've missed so many calls with this phone I'm livid.

Does not notify you if you miss a call. No call notification reminder. Easy to turn ringer off. Constantly have to slide the phone to unlock to make a call. screen disappears and times out when you need to use the keypad.

Do not waste your money with this phone...

As my first Android phone, the Kyocera/Sanyo Zio M6000 has been a grave disappointment. I got this phone a month and a half ago and encountered problems after about the third week. Several times, even while operating on a nearly full battery, the...

It is very lightweight (3.7 oz).

Unreliable battery with a short lifespan, deteriorating response time, poorly wired and unresponsive touchscreen, stubborn back cover, does NOT support Flash
