Kundenmeinung (newegg.com)

a lovely little beast

ectaco regularly releases free firmware updates on their website, complete with detailed instructions. have found that it's better to put all my books on an SD card since the main memory is small but this isn't a big deal since SD is really cheap now....

this thing supports more formats than any of the competitors. bought it 2 years ago before nook existed and kindle was still expensive and i wouldn't trade it for either one. i love that it's really JUST an ereader, ectaco didn't try to stuff it full...

none that i can think of. if you research it before you buy it you won't be disappointed by the lack of e-ink or wifi

Not Reliable - Deserves a zero rating

I just noticed that this was selling on the Newegg site for $199.99. I don't understand why this unreliable ebook reader is selling for $199.99. That's more expensive than a Kindle and a Nook. I can understand taking a chance and buying this jetBook if...

For $199.99, there are no pros

Not reliable. I've had two and they both died on my in less than 5 months. Ended up having to email Ectaco for a replacement. Two defective jetBooks. The old saying is "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me ; Please read the negative...

After over a year of Ownership

My initial review was 4 eggs some 15 months ago, with a years use, including a spell in hospital, I can safely say I can't do without this little thing. In terms of price and reliability it is the best.

You can take it off of me but you will have to prise it from my cold dead hands! Brilliant little device

Updating firmware can be a challenge sometimes

Ectaco 5" High Resolution e-Book Reader with Rechargeable Li-ion Battery Graphite (jetBook JB5BK)

does not break words on hyphens and doesn't wrap really long words to multiple lines not really a problem unless you make it one with like a 200 character word but sorta strange.

very functional does almost everything and supports meny file formats including most common picture types, mp3s and pdf ; well thought through device many 'missing' features are with good reason such as reducing eye stress ; screen is crystal clear and...

headphones that come with it suck ; no wireless ; doesn't do bold or underlining in html format (but does italics) ; dictionary somewhat spotty ; no direct dictionary search must use word in document to find word in dictionary ; opening a document can...

False Economy

I bought three of these at the same time and gave two away as gifts. Now I'm pretty embarrassed...... I should have spent the extra money on a Kindle.

Very readable display, not bad battery life. Very good price

I've spent $75 on books so far on popular eBooks and can't read any of them (except for the ones you can find for "free"). I've spent hours trying to "correct" the DRM issues...... I'm a fairly computer savy guy (MCSE), but I wish I'd never bought...

Pretty good

This is probably the best there is right now. There is NO WAY I would buy a Kindle or a Sony eReader because those are locked down so you have to pay for everything. Probably we should all wait until someone makes a reader that can read at least PDFs,...

You can put any PDFs or TXT files you want in it without having to pay for every book in some stupid proprietary format. Small enough to easily fit in coat pocket, screen is clear and can orientate portrait or landscape. Can play MP3s so you can listen...

Has problems with PDFs. Can't resize the fonts in PDFs. When I tried viewing one PDF in particular and tried to jump to a specific page, it would go back to the start screen each time. It was a 1200 page PDF and going forward one page at a time would...

I wanted to like this

cheap price, but when you factor in the restocking fee, and the shipping to send it back. I would think twice about ordering. At least New egg woul let me return it.

nice looking, screen looked great

I found I needed to hard reset the thing constantly. Thought it maybe cause I was ooking at large PDF's , but even Audio books would lock up. Maybe it just needs a firmware update, but I did verify I was on the latest

Ectaco 5" High Resolution e-Book Reader with Rechargeable Li-ion Battery Graphite (jetBook JB5BK)

If you get one of these devices, do yourself a favor and contact tech support to be put on the firmware release mailing list. The mailing list seems to be ahead of their web-page changes for releases. I've contacted tech support on a few occasions...

I bought this back in November '09 due to the price (at the time, it was one of the lowest priced models on Newegg), and after doing some research on the 'net. I've read around 35-40 books in that time, and it's performed it's primary function...

None really, other than the above mentioned PDF support. I would expect better PDF support on a larger-screened device, but not on these smaller, 5" screen devices

Ectaco is NO GO

* I would give "0" egg rating if such option is available, as both Jetbook and Jetbook Lite failed. * Ectaco's headquartes - Long Island City, NY is known for its light industrial (furniture, textile, car parts), grocery, and storage warehouses and...

Cheap (for good reasons) ; Reads several basic format ebooks ; Has a few European language support and dictionaries

Sub-standard technology: Hardware, Software platforms unknown. Jetbook Lite was recognized when plugged into USB port - but fried up windows, had to hard reboot. Jetbook Full version was never recognized, and promptly went dead ; Cannot read several...
