The VCR part of this unit seems to have a known defect where the screen goes blank during playback (find other reviews where you can see this issue reported by MANY people - one person returned it for warranty repair 3x's and it was STILL not working)....

I have wanted a DVD recorder for along time. I saw this one and had to get it. It has been great. I have recorded tv shows, movies, and old home movies from VHS to DVD. I could go on and on, but get for yourself and see.

Samsung's reputation is definitely damaged by this lemon. Thanks, of course, to NewEgg for permitting a refund (what's the point of getting another brand new defective unit?).
