The Apex AD-500WM is a pretty good for someone's first DVD player. It has all the basic features, supports Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, has S-Video out, and a digital coaxial connection. The features are very basic, but it takes a while to get used to...

Also plays MP3 format.

Annoying navigational system.

Glitches on the DVD A/V will happen if the disk have some fingerprints or scratches. Just clean them out and a good CD laser lens cleaner for the DVD-Rom; and the movie will play flawless. It can be connected to VHS via AUX and then to TV and the video...

A good basic CD/DVD/MP3 player Feature-rich.

Not very good if you have kids.

Purchased this when DVD players where still over 200.00. So at the time it was inexpensive. I have played just about every type of media in this. Ive converted movies into VCD, and SVCD format and it plays them without a hitch. Even my brothers...

Cheap, plays everything ive put in it.

Do not buy this dvd player if you want something reliable. If you're looking for a cheap gift that won't last long this is the way to go! Give it to an ex boyfriend for their birthday.

The Apex is my first DVD player. I was somewhat reluctant to buy one at first, as I had never heard of the brand before. But at around 100 dollars, I thought I would give it a try. I figured I could always take it back if it was a piece of junk.

inexpensive, reliable, good quality overall
