Sony ZV-1 II Review

There's lots to like about this vlog-focussed camera – depending on what sort of vlogger you are. This is our review of the Sony ZV-1 II.

Compact and lightweight build ; Strong autofocus performance ; Good built-in microphone

Disappointing image stabilisation ; No 10-bit video recording option ; Not great for still photography

Sony’s baffling decision to remove optical stabilisation in this update to the ZV-1 rankles, but for vloggers who don’t film on the hoof there’s a lot to appreciate – chiefly the class-leading autofocus, intelligent microphone and compact design.

Sony ZV-1 II review – wider vlogging appeal

Pricier successor with a wider lens

Touchscreen is now more useful and more intuitive ; Optical zoom now starts out at an ultra-wide 18mm ; New Cinematic Vlog settings offer a variety of looks

No headphone jack ; No USB-C cable or mains adapter supplied ; No in-body image stabilization

This is a well-built, responsive, almost pocket-sized hybrid suited to a variety of uses, and a sensible ‘all-in-one’ option for everyday adventures. The new wider zoom lens setting makes it better suited than its predecessor to group portraits,...

Sony ZV-1M2 Review

Smooth, accurate autofocus ; Several vlog-centric exposure modes ; Quality in-camera audio ; Effective digital stabilization ; Bright, wide-angle zoom lens

Poor battery life ; Outdated rear LCD ; Omits headphone monitoring jack

The Sony ZV-1M2 impresses as a vlogging camera thanks to its versatile 18-50mm zoom lens, 4K recording options, and clear stereo mic, but battery life could be better.

Sony ZV-1 II review: Better in some ways, worse in others

Sony's popular compact vlogging camera gets a refresh, which includes a much-needed wider lens - but not all the changes are for the better.

Wider field of view ; Excellent 3-capsule microphone ; Exceptional autofocus performance ; Improved touchscreen controls ; Compact, lightweight and portable

Slower lens at the telephoto end ; No optical image stabilisation ; Less slow motion options ; Loud zoom motor

The Sony ZV-1 was already one of the best options for a lightweight vlogging setup, and the addition of a wider lens, much-improved touchscreen functionality and a better microphone make it even more appealing. It's just a shame that it brought so many...

Sony ZV-1 II Review: The Best Vlogging Camera Gets Better, With A Price To Match - SlashGear

The Sony ZV-1 II (or Mark II, if you prefer), is the latest in Sony's vlogging camera collection. It's better than its predecessor, but is it worth its price?

Heavily improved touch-based user experience ; Hands-off controls simplify shooting for every type of user ; 18-50mm focal range dramatically improves vlogging potential ; Retains crowd-favorite featherweight ergonomics of original ; Connectivity...

A touch more expensive than ZV-1 ; Battery life is still woefully short ; Touchscreen responsiveness inconsistent

Sony ZV-1 II review: Improving the compact vlogging experience with a wider 18mm lens

The Sony ZV-1 Mark II comes with a much wider 18mm lens that's perfect for vlogging, but what's the catch? #sony #zv1mkii #vlogging

Wide 18mm lens ; Touch controls ; Super fast auto-focus ; Built-in mic

Slow F4 at 50mm ; Lower zoom range ; No optical image stabilisation ; 120fps max ; Low light performance
