Needs a longer cord - at least twice as long. It is difficult to connect to your hard drive when your hard drive is under your desk. Even with a laptop, the cord needs to be longer

The plug in cord is pretty short. It's fine for my purposes but I can see why it would be a problem in other scenarios. You can probably buy an extension though
