Humax HD-FOX T2

Von Ian Morris

If you're looking for a Freeview HD receiver, the HD-FOX T2 is currently your only option, so it's just as well that it does a cracking job. It's expensive and Freeview HD content is still thin on the ground, but it offers generally good picture ...

Appealing styling ; good features ; fresh-looking interface ; future ability to record to USB storage ; picture quality can be stunning

Green-line bug will irritate purists ; expensive

If high-definition viewing is a must for you, but you can't afford or don't want Sky+HD or Virgin HD, then the Humax HD-FOX T2 might be the piece of hardware you're looking for. HD pictures can look stunning given the right input, but there isn't much ...

Humax HD-Fox T2 Freeview HD receiver

Von Adrian Justins

First Freeview HD receiver, for the early adopter keen to sample the latest in hi-def broadcasting.

Judging Humax's HD-Fox T2 purely on performance it's hard to find much at fault. Its closest subscription-free rival is Freesat, which it kicks in to the long grass with a much prettier EPG; by listing ITV HD as a dedicated channel and by the imminent ...

Humax HD-Fox T2 review

It's taken a little longer to arrive than we expected, but we finally took delivery of the first Freeview HD product: Humax's HD-Fox T2. We first saw a working prototype at Humax's pre-release demonstration in early December 2009, and now we've had ...

It's the simplest way to get HD, but it's expensive considering it only has a single tuner.

Humax HD-FOX T2 review

Von Andrew Harrison

With the Humax HD-FOX T2 you can receive Freeview HD - the easiest way to watch high-definition television at home.

We're looking forward to seeing tuner cards and USB adaptors to turn a media-centre PC into a Freeview HD-viewing platform; but until then the Humax serves as a good entry point as a standalone set-top box with networking potential.

Humax HD-FOX T2

You're paying a premium, but if you want HD, the HDFOX T2 is very impressive

Fine HD and SD picture quality; easy to install and use; mediafriendly features

Pricey next to a Freeview PVR but it does do HD

Humax HD-FOX T2

Von Rik Henderson

The Humax HD-FOX T2 is the first freeview HD box available

Free HD programming; Good network streaming; Good SD and HD pictures

No PVR function yet; Can't read HD movie files; No Wi-Fi

There is also the hint of two further HD channels to come soon (rumoured to be from channels 4 and Five), and Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Bradford, Birmingham and the West (Mendip) are expected to be able to receive the transmissions as early as March
